FORMULA E IS COMING TO ZÜRICH

10 June 2018 in Zurich

The Formula E in Zürich is the new highlight in the Swiss event calendar. With the unique combination of entertainment, sustainability, technology and innovation, Formula E has changed the boundaries of common motorsports competition. It gives younger audiences and families the chance to watch races unfold on an urban circuit.

With its electrifying performance, Formula E promotes more sustainable mobility in the battle against air pollution and climate change. Formula E introduces solutions to climate change problems and raises awareness among their fan base. Their wide range of entertainment program exceeds the common motorsport fans and attracts a much younger public.

GIVE YOUR FAVOURITE DRIVER A BOOST!

FANBOOST is a unique concept, created by Formula E that lets fans vote for their favourite racing driver online and give him or her an advantage in the race.

Voting begins six days before the race and ends six minutes after the race begins. The three Formula E drivers with the most FANBOOST votes receive a power boost. They can deploy an additional 100 kj of power for their second car, but only once and only within the performance window between 180 and 200 kW. A series of shorter boosts is not allowed.
You can follow your favourite driver’s progress in real time in the FANBOOST rankings list.

In the explorer zone, interactive adventures, innovative concepts and futuristic technologies await explorers of all ages.

• Experience your favourite driver up close at the autograph signing session, before he or she goes full throttle on the track.
• And in the racing simulator, you can sit behind the wheel yourself, and compete in a race against Formula E racers or other fans.
• Feel the victors’ emotions in the podium ceremony and be sprayed with champagne!

Our EJ takes care of the lively party atmosphere with ‘electro music’ that really gets things moving.

THE RACE

We’re bringing the racing spectacle right into the city centre. The circuit is 2.46 kilometres long and runs along the lake promenade, through the banking quarter and Zurich city centre.

The drivers set off from the Mythenquai at Enge harbour. They then accelerate on the long straights alongside the pit lane, able to reach speeds of up to 220 km/h. The course then takes a right behind the Arboretum into General-Guisan-Quai, followed by a 90-degree left turn, after which the course continues along the Stockerstrasse. After taking another two 90-degree left turns, the course then goes along Dreikönigstrasse and Genferstrasse. The course then turns right into Gotthardstrasse and then takes another left into Alfred-Escher-Strasse, which is the back-straight taking drivers back to the Enge harbour.

The temporary Formula E race track has eleven corners and is littered with challenges like the hairpin bend, several tight corners, wide and narrow sections as well as two high-speed sections and a chicane.
